Github Project Setup

1. Create a GitHub Repository

  1. Log In to GitHub:
  2. Create a New Repository:
    • Go to New or visit https://github.com/new.
    • Name your repository (e.g., capstone-project).
    • Add a description for your project.
    • Set the repository to Private.
    • Do not initialize the repository with a README or .gitignore.
  3. Clone the Repository Locally: On your local machine, open a terminal and run:
    git clone git@github.com:your-username/capstone-project.git cd capstone-project

2. Add a README File

  1. Create a README:
    • Use your terminal or text editor to create a README.md file in the repository directory.
    • Include:
      • Project name
      • Brief description
      • Objectives of your capstone project.
  2. Stage and Commit:
    git add README.md git commit -m "Initial commit: Add README file"
  3. Push Changes to GitHub:
    git push origin main

3. Share the Repository with Your Professor

  1. Add Your Professor as a Collaborator:
    • Go to your repository on GitHub.
    • Navigate to Settings > Collaborators and Teams.
    • Click Add Collaborator.
    • Enter your professor’s GitHub username: jimskon.
    • Send the invitation.
  2. Notify Your Professor:
    • Let the professor know the invitation has been sent on moodle.

4. Add Your Professor’s Public SSH Key

  1. Professor’s Public SSH Key: Below is the professor’s public key. You will need to add this key to your repository:
